MISSION COMMITTEE

Who We Are

The purpose of the Mission Committee is to prayerfully support local, national, and international missions using our financial, material, and human resources and in doing so, share the love, grace, and compassion of Jesus Christ. We made the commitment to become a Matthew 25 church by embracing congregational vitality by challenging people to deepen their faith and get actively and joyfully engaged with the community and the world.
We pledge to embrace one or more of these three areas of focus:
- Building congregational vitality
- Dismantling structural racism
- Eradicating systemic poverty

We live out this commitment in our life together, our engagement with the community, and in creative partnerships with other congregations and ministries in our region and worldwide.

Our Current Mission
OUR DAZZLING DONATION DAYS ARE BACK!
APRIL 18th and APRIL 19th from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM!

A box truck will be parked in our lot collecting donations for Washington City Mission, so it's time to start your spring cleaning and go through your closets, gather up those gently used goods, and clean out your storage room! Let’s show our faith in action as we come together and fill the truck one box, bag, and blessing at a time! (Please note: furniture will not be accepted.) We have filled the truck in the past and look forward to doing it again.  The Deacons will staff the collection, but we would greatly appreciate some strong men to help get up into the truck when items are loaded.  Shifts will be 2 hours each, and we will be doing a schedule closer to the collection time.

Please note that our usual monthly Food Drive will happen on April 18th, instead of April 11th, from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Just drive up and drop off your non-perishable goods. Donations benefit SHIM.

BE A PART OF SOMETHING DAZZLING!

AGAPE Training Center Fundraiser
As we celebrate the journey toward 250 years of ministry, we continue our tradition of sharing God’s love beyond our walls. We are raising funds to build the Agape Training Center in Uganda, a place that will provide technology and tailoring training so individuals can learn valuable skills, become self-sufficient, and support their families.

Our goal is $6,000, and you can help make this vision a reality! You can purchase a $2.00 Sarris Chocolate Bar in the church office. Every contribution helps lay more bricks on the foundation! As we honor our past and look toward the future, your support helps extend our mission and make a lasting impact.

Our mission calls us to live out our faith in the community and world by...

- Sharing the hope that is in us.
- Exhibiting Heaven to the world in word and deed.
- Engaging in God's work in the world for justice, mercy,
and peace.
- Caring for the needs of our neighbors and reaching out
with the welcoming love of Christ.
Mission Partners
Living Waters Church Mission
We have continued to partner with the amazing Pastor Emmanual Chirambo at Living Waters Church in Malawi. We send him money we raise to help build pumps that allow life-saving water to reach villages that do not have access to any. He also helps with orphans and widows in his orphanages. Please feel free to watch this video that Emmanual sent to us to show how your donations impact their population. To donate directly to this cause, click the button that says "Donate." Thank you!

SHIM
Throughout the year, BPC has a bin where you can donate items such as toothpaste, diapers, hair care products, and more in the Marshall Rd. entryway.  To visit the SHIM website, click here.
SHIM stands for South Hills Interfaith Movement. SHIM's mission is to implement programs that help individuals in
the community meet their basic needs. They also help with building community and serving families to achieve
self-sufficiency.

BPC also hosts a food drive monthly on the second Saturday of each month. Over the year 2024 and 2025, we were able to collect 1 TON OF FOOD!  Please do not hesitate to bring non-perishable food items as we are continuing this mission. Your Donations allow us to purchase extra food that we can then donate to SHIM. Click the link below to donate.

Washington City Mission
We are blessed with our beautiful building and convenient location - and seek to use those blessings in a way that provides for help, healing, and wholeness for the people of our community. Off of Marshall Rd. we have a bin for clothes and shoes in the parking lot. You can drive up to the bin at any time to donate clothes.

We are proud to have Meals on Wheels operate out of our kitchen 5 days a week, year-round, providing healthy meals delivered to the door of neighbors who are unable, for a variety of reasons, to cook and prepare meals for themselves.

We are also grateful to supply a place for Alcoholics Anonymous to meet for weekly support and encouragement, as we prayerfully hold up those who are so bravely fighting for recovery.
