CHILDCARE

Picture
The purpose of the Bethel Presbyterian Church Childcare and Preschool Programs is to provide quality care and education to the young children of the church and surrounding communities. These programs are a mission undertaken by the church and administered through a Board of Directors through Session in response to the call to proclaim Christ’s love throughout the world. The guiding principle of the programs is to provide an environment that teaches and exemplifies the Christian values of love, patience, acceptance, and forgiveness. The church feels a special obligation to meet the needs of young children because they are an important and unique part of the Christian community.

Bethel Presbyterian Childcare is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Bethel Presbyterian Childcare Service is a contract center. The contract defines the specific days and times of the week your child will attend the center. Due to advance staffing needs, you are responsible for payment for these days and times regardless of your child’s attendance. At this time, care is available only for children who come at least twice a week for a minimum total time of twelve hours or more. Children need to come often enough to feel comfortable with the program, peers, and staff. The staff needs to be able to learn the unique characteristics of each child. Your contract is in effect for a minimum of 60 days.

In order to ensure that the center has the necessary information about your child for his/her care, several forms must be on file for every child. Each child’s folder must contain a contract/agreement form, an emergency contact/parent consent form, and a medical history form. (Medical history form should be returned from your child’s doctor within 30 days after you sign your agreement. A new health form must be filled out each time your child has a new (well-child) physical or immunization. Health forms are available in the office. All forms are required to be included in your child’s file as mandated by the state.

Childcare Service is open to any child from the age of 6 weeks through the summer following kindergarten without discrimination as to sex, race, color, or creed. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Preference will be given to full-time care and those who wish to enroll in our Preschool. Children may not participate in our Child Care if they attend Preschool elsewhere.
Children are grouped according to age levels:
  • Infant
  • Young Toddler
  • Older Toddler (2)
  • Young Preschool (3/4)
  • Preschool / Kindergarten (4/5/6)

The Director or Assistant Director of the Center, with information from staff members, has the authority to place children in the groups most appropriate and beneficial for the children in accordance with the enrollment limits set by the administration.

Every day the Child Care is filled with many activities designed to develop a variety of social and cognitive skills. Time is used to foster your child’s happiness, self-esteem, and ability to function within a group. Please take a minute each day to admire your child’s “work” and share his / her excitement. Thank you for sharing your children with us. We will care for them as if they were our own.
