The purpose of the Mission Committee is to prayerfully support local, national, and international missions using our financial, material, and human resources and in doing so, share the love, grace, and compassion of Jesus Christ. We made the commitment to become a Matthew 25 church by embracing congregational vitality by challenging people to deepen their faith and get actively and joyfully engaged with the community and the world.
We pledge to embrace one or more of these three areas of focus:

Disposable Razors
Body Wash Deodorant (stick only) Shampoo Bar Soap |

Living Waters Church Mission
We have continued to partner with the amazing Emmanual at Living Waters Church in Malawi. We send him money to help after a cyclone devastated them so he can purchase seed for a field with an irrigation system.

Agape Heart International
Agape Heart International has a program for residents of a refugee camp in Uganda. The program teaches them the skills necessary to become employed or start their own business as a sewer or tailor. We collect donations to buy sewing machines that we can sent to the camp. Each sewing machine costs about $200.

Washington City Mission
We are blessed with our beautiful building and convenient location - and seek to use those blessings in a way that provides for help, healing, and wholeness for the people of our community.
Off of Marshall Rd. we have a bin for clothes and shoes in the parking lot. You can drive up to the bin at any time to donate clothes.

SHIM
Throughout the year, BPC has a bin where you can donate items such as toothpaste, diapers, hair care products, and more in the Marshall Rd. entryway. To visit the SHIM website, click here.
SHIM stands for South Hills Interfaith Movement. SHIM's mission is to implement programs that help individuals in
the community meet their basic needs. They also help with building community and serving families to achieve self-sufficiency. BPC also hosts a food drive monthly on the second Saturday of each month. Please do not hesitate to bring non-perishable food items as we are continuing this mission. Your Donations allow us to purchase extra food that we can then donate to SHIM. Click the link below to donate. |
There is one book the Allegheny County Jail cannot keep in stock: The Bible. As inmates receive care through the chaplaincy office, they are gifted The Life Recovery Bible. These Bibles are treasured and read over and over by those who are in this time of reflection and change, and when they are seeking God's presence, help, and hope. The need for these Bibles is ongoing as inmates move through the program. The donor organization that has provided these Bibles previously, however, is unable to continue to do so.
In response to Christian love and obedience to Christ's call to care for those in prison, and in doing so to care for him, the Matthew 25 Steering Committee of Pittsburgh Presbytery is asking each church in the presbytery to bring at least one Life Recovery Bible (NLT) to the Presbytery Meetings at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. You can sponsor as many Bibles as you feel led to with your donation of $20 per Bible. If you would like to support this wonderful program in our community, please make a 'Bible Program' notation on your contribution, or you can click the "Donate" button. |
