Reverend Dr. Cathie Smith assumed the duties of Pastor in June, 2016. A graduate of Purdue University, she earned a Masters of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a Doctorate in Ministry through Western Theological Seminary. The emphasis of her doctoral work was on baptismal identity and worship. Pastor Cathie is passionate about nurturing families in faith-and the family of faith-through meaningful worship, thoughtful exploration of Scripture, and getting hands and feet dirty as we continue Christ's work in the world. Rev. Smith and her husband, Joel, met while they were students at Purdue University. The Smith family has three children: Ben, who is in graduate school at Duke University; Jacob, who lives and works in Ann Arbor, MI; and Emily, who attends Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.

Cody joined the staff of Bethel Presbyterian Church in the fall of 2015 as our organist. In addition to joyfully leading the congregation in worship through hymn singing and service music, he accompanies the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, and special ensembles on the pipe organ and piano. Cody has practiced his craft his entire life and strives to bring energy and excitement in all he plays. He has studied music composition and pipe organ at Carnegie Mellon University. His studies have taken him to Europe and he is overjoyed at the opportunity to play an instrument he loves every week at Bethel. His "day job" is spent at CMU in physical computing and he loves using his artistic background to create computing artifacts that change people's lives. In his spare time, Cody is almost always found at the gym where he enjoys playing racquetball and lifting weights.
