The session shall have responsibility for governing the congregation and guiding its witness to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that the congregation is and becomes a community of faith, hope, love, and witness. |
Who are the Deacons? The Board of Deacons is composed of 15 individuals who have the spiritual gifts of compassion and service. They lead the efforts of our congregation to be a source of help and comfort to those in our church family and in the community in times of need. Deacons visit our shut-ins, provide at-home communion, support and encourage our college students, write letters of compassion and care, and organize efforts for action when particular needs arise.

The ministry of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of compassion, witness and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress.
