Another summer has flown by all too quickly. In my yard, leaves are already starting to fall. With the fall comes our tribute to Ladies Eighties...those women in our church who have worked to help our organization with many projects around the church and in the community. We will acknowledge these ladies on Sunday, September 16th, during the worship service as well as a luncheon following the service. Please join us for this time of fellowship and recognition!
Our Thank Offering Service will be Sunday, October 21st, during the worship service. This is traditionally when we celebrate the generosity of women so long ago to help others in need, even though they themselves didn't have much in their own lives. Their spirit of giving lives on in us today as we "pay it forward"! During Fellowship Hour, we will celebrate with a luncheon.
November 10th brings us to our biggest endeavor and fundraiser, Holiday-A-Fair. This one day event encompasses the whole church, as well as all the woman and man power we can muster! We solicit vendors to sell their wares for the day, but we need many people to help with all the other jobs and donations that are needed to make this event run smoothly. Sign-up sheets will start out in the Women's Circle Meetings in September, but will then be available during Fellowship Hours shortly thereafter. Please consider giving your time and donations...every little bit helps!
Thanks so much to those who helped us with our back-to-school donations to SHIM. We are sure it means a lot to those parents who struggle to make sure their children do well in school. In December, we will again be supporting their Angel Emporium to help deserving families and their children have a Merry Christmas! Watch for details in further Bulletins.
Also, be watching for our new Directory which will be coming out in January with complete listings for our circles and our future events.
As I sit in the airport in Bangkok, Thailand, I realize that summer vacation that seemed so far away is coming to an end. It has been so interesting to see so many people of the world in one place. Being in Thailand made me think how fortunate we are and how the rest of the world does live...most of the time in the poorest of conditions...and yet happy, friendly and eager to please. The women of Bethel Presbyterian Church are honored to serve in whatever capacity we can to make sure people all over the world as well as in our own country are taken care of in whatever ways that we can help.
Of course, at the end of the summer, comes the thoughts of fall and getting started with our busy calendar for the rest of 2017. In September, we will celebrate our Ladies 80s on Sunday, September 17th, honoring our special ladies during the service, followed by a light luncheon and cake.
Thank Offering will follow on October 22nd, when we acknowledge the contributions women have made to mission work.
Finally, our major event of the year will be Holiday-A-Fair on November 11th. That is our major fundraising event for the year, providing monies for us to support missions home, abroad, and within the church.
We have all our vendors in place and now we just have to fine-tune the event, but, as always, we need your help! At the September Circle Meetings you will have the opportunity to sign up for the different ways in which you can help with this enormous event! The Bazaar takes a lot of help by all members of the congregation, so please be looking for ways you can contribute through future announcements in the Bulletin.
Hopefully, you all had a wonderful and restful summer and will be energized to begin a fabulous fall season!
