Changed by Christ so We can Change the World
"Make a joyful noise to the LORD all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 100)."
"Worship is an act that develops feelings for God, not a feeling for God that is expressed in an act of worship. When we obey the command to praise God in worship, our deep, essential need to be in relationship with God is nurtured (Eugene Peterson, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, 54)."

Changed by Christ...
One of the ways we know that we are changed by Christ is through vibrant worship. At Bethel, we value our time for worship because it is that God-given space where we can find spiritual refreshment, remembering who we are as those who live their lives in Christ, and join with others in the fellowship of faith created by our Lord.
Since 1776, Bethel Presbyterian Church has continued a rich tradition of worship in the community of Bethel Park. We invite you to come worship with us as we lift our lives in praise, gratitude, and joy to this God who has so wonderfully and tenderly looked upon the world in and through Jesus Christ.
Why We Worship...

Music
One of the aspects of worship that we greatly appreciate at Bethel is music. To that end, we offer two different styles to praise our God and assist the people of God to worship in Spirit and in truth. These styles can be seen through our various musical ensembles.
Chancel Choir:
Our chancel choir is approximately 20 members large. They perform one to two anthems every Sunday morning at our traditional worship service held at 10 am. In addition, our chancel choir performs at all special services including our Christmas Eve candlelight service, Maundy Thursday service, All Saint's Day, etc. We can also be found performing out in the community in such venues as local choir festivals, nursing homes, assisted living homes, etc. The choir performs at variety of classical as well as contemporary literature from such composers and arrangers as Bach, Handel, Courtney, Hayes, and Schrader. Participation in this ensemble ranges in ages from 7th grade on up. All are welcome to sing in our choir and no audition is necessary. If interested, please contact Jason Wilcox (jason@bethelpresby.org) for more details. The chancel choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:45 - 9 pm.
Bell Choir:
Our bell choir is approximately 12 members large. They perform approximately one time a month in our traditional worship service and and offer a variety of music ranging from traditional hymns that were arranged for bell choir to popular holiday music to music that was originally written for bell choir. This year you can look for our bell choir to be performing out in the community, especially around the holiday time to help spread a little holiday cheer to the community. All are welcome to play in our bell choir and no audition is necessary. If interested, please contact Jason Wilcox (jason@bethelpresby.org) for more details. The bell choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.
Children's Choir:
Our children's choir meets every Sunday morning (approximately 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.). This choir performs standard literature of all styles including literature that is performed in conjunction with the Chancel Choir and Praise Band. All children grades Kindergarten - 6th grade are welcome to sing in our choir and no audition is necessary. If interested, please contact Jason Wilcox (jason@bethelpresby.org) for more details.
Praise Band:
Our praise band consists of anywhere between 3 and 8 members (considering the week) and instrumentation includes piano, bass, drums, guitar, and vocals. Repertoire includes music by Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, David Crowder Band, etc. In addition, the band can be seen playing at special services including Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Anniversary Sunday, etc. All are welcome to join in the band. While no audition is necessary, there is a screening process for new members to see if their instrumentation and skills meet the needs and demands of the band. If interested, please contact Jason Wilcox (jason@bethelpresby.org) for more details.
Youth Praise Band:
Our youth praise band consists of approximately 5 members. They function in the same capacity as the Praise Band with less performances. The youth praise band can be seen playing with the Praise Band during worship. Preaching
At his ordination to the ministry of Word and Sacrament in 2007, Rev. Tom Moore was charged with three things: "Preach Jesus Christ, Preach Jesus Christ, Preach Jesus Christ." Since then, he has sought to bear witness to the work of the Lord our God as it has been revealed to us in and through Jesus Christ; connecting what the good news of the gospel means in the midst of our day-to-day, ordinary lives. If you would like to read one of his sermons, click here. Throughout 2013, Tom will be preaching through various topics. To see the complete list, click here.
